Quality of Life

Trash and potholes. Illegal dumping and open-air drug dealing. Lawless driving on outlawed vehicles. In too many neighborhoods these define the day-to-day experiences of residents.

This is unacceptable.

If union rules need to be renegotiated to get the trash picked up or potholes filled, do it. (But probably better planning would be enough.) If more spending is needed to stop illegal dumping, make it happen. If laws already exist to maintain order and civility, enforce them.

We reject the idea that any one group’s rights or well-being supersede the rights of others or the destiny of our city as a whole. Leadership demands the courage to support this simple statement. It’s about commitment and competence. We will fight for leaders who understand this.
